Visiting Wat Chalong ~ Wat Chaiyathararam - Temple Of LP Chaem - Phuket - Thailand.

Wat Chalong, (is derived from the Thai word "chalang," meaning "to connect" or "to link."), built at the beginning on 19th century during the reign of King Rama III, Its real name is Wat Chaiyathararam. Locals and many Thai tourists come to pray and pay respects to several revered monks who were the founders of Wat Chalong, Among them Luang Phor Chaem and Luang Phor Chuang, who led the citizens of Chalong subdistrict fighting against the Chinese rebellion in 1876 and with their knowledge of herbal medicine helped the injured. Now Wat Chalong is one of the most important Buddhist temples in Phuket, serving as a center for Buddhist worship, education, and community activities.
Mural painting of LP Chaem inside the chedi building. Luang Phor Chaem, Wat Chalong, Phuket, was a great southern Thai Guru who lived between BE2371-2452 and was in monkhood for 60 years. He was highly respected as a great miraculous Guru Monk in Phuket and is well known to Malaysia’s Buddhists, so was often invited to Malaysia to ordain new monks and administer important religious ceremonies.

Iconic 60 meter height of Chedi building in Wat Chalong. The grand Chedi dominating Wat Chalong is reputed to contain a splinter of Relic Lord Buddha's bone. Take your time exploring the Chedi, which has intricate wall paintings depicting Buddha's life story and various images. Some restoration in progress.

Wat Chalong Grand Chedi is built on three floors so feel free to climb all the way to the top floor will lead you to a glass display where the fragment of bone can be contemplated. Photos taken with sacred Relic Bone of Lord Buddha.

This stunning temple, built in the early 19th century, is famous for housing a sacred bone relic of Lord Buddha. This sacred relic from Sampdoti Vihara, Colombo Sri Lanka. Now it was enshrined here at Wat Chalong (Wat Chaiyathararam) on 9th April BE2542, Phuket, Thailand.
Here is an exquisite masterpiece of Thai architecture old wooden house. You can find an air-conditioned exhibition hall of LP Chaem. It displays life-like wax models of Luang Phor Chaem, Luang Phor Chuang, Luang Phor Kleum and Luang Pu Thuad, along with antique Thai furniture and Benjarong porcelain.
