Visiting Wat NangTra BE2566 ~ Popular Amulets Of Phra NangTra NakProk & Queen Suppatra - Nakhon Si Thammarat - Thailand.

This trip we'll bring you the ancient temple Wat NangTra, formerly known as Wat Phra Nang Supattra, is a temple that was built for about 1,800 years ago. When Phra Chao Sri Thammasok brought blessings of the Buddha's relics from the Indian subcontinent and built a chedi in Nakhon Si Thammarat (Phra Boromathat Chedi) to placed the Buddha's relics, news of the chedi's construction spread to the Srivijaya Kingdom in Sumatra, where a princess was named Princess Supattra was very fond of Buddhism and desired to join in building a pagoda with 300 junk boats along with the wealth of his servants traveling from Sumatra to Nakhon Si Thammarat. As the journey approached, the boat capsized near the site of Wat NangTra now, Therefore a Pagoda and temple were built and named it "Wat Phra Nang Supattra". Now only Wat NangTra the building which remains to be seen today, old chedi, surrounded by a moat that the villagers call Don Tham Niab and also the most popular amulets called Phra NangTra NakProk that excavated from temple chedi site ancient Wat NangTra. Until now, the Hero legend of Maj. Gen. Khunphantharak Ratchadet (Phra Ajahn Khun Pan) came here to blessed together for the new batch Phra NangTra NakProk amulets in the past.

Current abbot of Wat NangTra, PhraKru Supakittayaphon, known as LP Chaloem. This year LP Chaloem is 84 years old and currently raise fund to build Shrine House for "Queen Suppatra" at Wat NangTra.

Queen Suppatra ~ According to the history of Nakhon Si Thammarat,"Wat NangTra" was built by the white blood queen, who has beautiful face, beautiful body and also have a charitable heart to make merit. She later became the chief consort of King Sri Thammasokarat - the lord of the kingdom. According to folk story, it is said that with the name "White-blooded Queen" due to the blood flowing from her index finger injury when she went to help with the ordination ceremony, the blood was surprisingly white. During the time Chief Consort of King Sri Thammasokarat, she could not give any son or daughter for succession till middle age. Therefore, she went to request for leaving and living in the old age in making merit and dedicating life to Phra Buddhism by renovating and building many temples throughout the district Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Temple Wat NangTra is one of them.
