Phra Buddha Maha Wachira Uttamopas Sasada ~ Carved Buddha Image Of Khao Chee Jan - Pattaya, Thailand.

The Phra Buddha Image of Khao Chee Jan was carved out of the cliff using laser technology. After that, it was inlaid with gold leaf, a process that took months to complete. Officially named 'Phra Buddha Maha Wachira Uttamopas Sasada, the Sukhothai style Buddha of meditation posture measures 130 metres high and 70 metres wide across at the laps. It was built in year 1996 (BE2539) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's accession the the throne. Now is under care of the Royal Navy and cost of construction totalled 161.7 million baht.

 The biggest Buddha images in the world, Phra Buddha Maha Wichira Uttamopas Sasada which is also called Khao Chee Jan, is set in beautifully landscaped gardens. There is a number of salas (open pavilions) and pools filled with lotus flowers giving the place a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.
