Visited Wat Hat Yai Nai @ Wat Mahattamangkalaram - Songkhla - Thailand.

Wat Hat Yai Nai is renowned for its impressive reclining Buddha statue, which is one of the largest in Thailand. “Phra Phuttha Mahatta Mongkhon” was named by King Rama 9, HM Bhumibol Adulyadej Bhumiphol on 2 August 1976. The Foundation Stone ceremony was conducted on 23 August 1972 by Songkhla provincial Governor. King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit and 2 Princesses came to performed ceremony raise radiance emanating of the Reclining Buddha Head on 2 Sept 1976. Somdet Phra Sangkarat Sakolmahasangkhaparinayok came to visit and performed the Stone inscription on neck of Reclining Buddha on 30 March 1977. Prince Wachiralongkorn and his wife came to performed the Foundation Stone ceremony on July 1977. The Chief Monk Provincial - Phra Suttawongsacharn came to performed ceremony on 24 June 1978.

The interior of the temple Wat Hat Yai Nai enshrines a large Reclining Buddha statue that is 35 metres long and 15 metres high from ground to top. It is called “Phra Phuttha Mahatta Mongkhon”. Wat Hat Yai Nai with Phra Reclining Buddha can attract local Thai and foreign tourists come here to pay homage.

The small Phra Reclining Buddha statue is duplicate for the big Phra Reclining Buddha statue.
The Art of stucco is decorated on the wall of base Phra Reclining Buddha statue. The special event for you to enter the Reclining Buddha statue and you can view its central chamber with a heart-shaped hollow that resembles a human heart. It even has veins like a real heart! The temple accepts visitors just once a year to apply gold foil on the heart surface. This heart is seen as the heart of Buddhism. By placing gold foil on the Reclining Buddha’s heart to honor the Buddha’s heart in much the same way you would honor the Buddha himself. It’s very sacred and meaningful.
The Phra Buddha footprints, also known as Buddhapada, are symbolic representations of the Buddha's earthly existence and teachings.
The back and inside the large reclining Buddha base there is a mausoleum. Around the walls inside are contains the urn ashes of a deceased people. Also with main altar for the mausoleum.

The new Wooden Pavilion of Wat Hat Yai Nai still under construction and not ready yet to use. The gables are decorated with stucco statues of Theppanom. There is also a model of a stucco boat with a seven headed Naga. Inside the boat, there is a Buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara in a beautiful arch.
