Wat Saket Abbot ~ Somdet Phra Putthacharn Kiew Dies At Aged 85.

The revered Buddhist monk, widely known as Somdet Kiew, was born on March 3, 1928 in Koh Samui district of Surat Thani province and ordained as a monk at Wat Saket in 1949, passed away at 8.41am of 10th August BE2556.
Somdet Phra Putthacharn Kiew was appointed the secretary of the Supreme Patriarch in 1965. The 'Somdet' is the highest title in the Thai monastic circle. Since 2005, he has been the chairperson of the Supreme of Patriarch’s Representative Committee, being the Acting Supreme Patriarch since then due to the failing health of the incumbent Supreme Patriarch Nyanasamvara Suvaddhana.
Somdet Phra Putthacharn Kiew was recognised for his efforts in spreading the teachings of Lord Buddha worldwide and helped to build temples and send monks to propagate Buddhism in several
including the USA and several Europe countries.

Wat Doi Suthep ~ The Shrine Of Great Kruba Srivichai Located At Foot Of Doi Suthep Mountain In Chiang Mai - Thailand (Part 1).

The Shrine of Great Kruba Srivichai was located at foot of Doi Suthep mountain, beside the road he created, allowing millions of pilgrims and tourists access to Wat PhraThat Doi Suthep.
 The old main road from Lamphun to Chiang Mai was planted with huge tropical forest tree (dipterocarpus alatus) along the side road before reached the foot of Doi Suthep mountain. The old city of Chiang Mai also planted with many Bodhi Tree (ficus religiosa). Very impressive.

Revisited Wat Suthat ThepWararam In Year BE2556 ~ The Latest Renovation From Fine Arts Department.

 The Two-Centuries-Old Wat Suthat Thepwararam is one of six Grade A royal Buddhist temples in Thailand. Currently having major renovation again. Due to financial constraints, the latest renovation is being done in stages. It began with the Ubosots around the preaching Ubosot. It requires fine skill and a knowledge of history. The entire renovation from Fine Art Department of Wat Suthat Thepwararam is expected to take five to six years.
His Majesty King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke, or King Rama I the Great, started the construction of Wat Suthat Thepwararam in year 1807 and Grand Ubosot in typical Siamese architectural style is known around the world and draws hordes of tourists and locals each day.
