Wat Tuyong ~ Wat Mutcharinthawapi Wihan is a royal monastery that has a large area and with historical value. It looks very vintage and has been established in city of Pattani for a long time. It is an ancient temple by founder 'Phraya Wichianphakdi Sisongkhram' after moved the Nong Chik District office to Tuyong District in 1845. It was formerly known as "Wat Tuyong". After that, when King Chulalongkorn paid a visit to Nong Chik, he made a donation for Ubosot building and renamed the temple to "Wat Mutcharinthawapi Wihan" in order that the temple's name is in accordance with the town's name, Nong Chik, literally meaning the swamp of the Indian oak. ('Mucharintha' means the Indian oak and 'wapi' means a swamp or a pond.)
The famous Pavilion building for the sculptures of the temple's former abbots are hosted. One of them is the sculpture of Phra Ratcha Puuttha Rangsi, also known as Luang Phor Dum Nanthiyo, the fifth abbot. Learning of his good deeds in the past, a lot of people usually visit the temple to pay respect to his statue. This Pavilion built in 1964, it is a four-sided pavilion with a high spire, 12 meters wide on each side and 12 meters long on each side. It was built during the time of 'Luang Pho Dum Nanthiyo' as the abbot to enshrine the statues of the former abbots. Therefore, PhraKru Nimankitkoson (Luang Pho Aiem Khemako) was assigned to create a replica from the Bang Pa-in Royal Palace in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. At present, the statues of LP Thuad Nuan, LP Chum, LP Dum and LP Aiem, the third, fourth and fifth former abbots, and the fifth deputy abbot, are enshrined here.
